Francisco Lindor and Jeff McNeil had a heated confrontation last season, just the latest friction between the teammates in what has been a turbulent Mets relationship.<\/p>\n
After a defensive lapse on June 20 in Philadelphia, an angry Lindor at some point began verbally attacking McNeil, according to a source, leading to what was described as a tense standoff between the two. The Mets lost their seventh straight that night \u2014 an initial stretch of futility that indicated maybe something was amiss with a team that had surged a season-high 21 games above .500 just over a week earlier.<\/p>\n
\u201cA play didn\u2019t get made and that pissed [Lindor] off,\u201d a source who was nearby the confrontation said.<\/p>\n
There is no indication this latest known incident between the two turned physical. That is unlike in 2021, when an argument between the two sparked by a defensive letdown spilled over into the runway between the dugout and clubhouse.
