The bets are in \u2013 and now state gaming commissioners will decide who hits the jackpot.<\/p>\n

The state Gaming Facility Location Board on Monday will vote to award up three coveted casino licenses for the downstate New York area.<\/p>\n

A pool of what was once 11 bidders has dwindled to three \u2013 but there\u2019s no guarantee each of the survivors will get licenses because the five-member board doesn\u2019t have to award any.<\/p>\n

However, the Hochul administration has 1.5 billion reasons for wanting three winning bids \u2013 despite objections raised by anti-casino activists and other critics.<\/p>\n

Casino applicants each need to pay $500 million license fees to operate \u2013 which would go into the cash-strapped state\u2019s coffers \u2014 as well commit to at least $500 million in capital investments on their projects.<\/p>\n

Among those looking to cash in is Mets owner\u00a0Steve Cohen, who wants to open a $8 billion casino complex<\/a>\u00a0next to Citi Field in Flushing, Queens. The Hard Rock Metropolitan Park group\u00a0is\u00a0also partnering on the project, which would include a music concert hall and other amenities.<\/p>\n

Bally\u2019s is pushing a $4 billion plan <\/a>to open a Bronx casino on a former golf\u00a0course once owned\u00a0by President Donald Trump, and Resorts World is planning a $5.5 billion expansion of his existing facility at Queens\u2019 Aqueduct race track that already provides parlor games.<\/p>\n

However, Bally\u2019s chairman Soo Kim told The Post he believes his chances of scoring a license \u201clooks pretty good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe put our best effort out there,\u201d he said. \u201cI don\u2019t think we have any weak spots.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bally\u2019s\u00a0acquired the golf course\u00a0<\/a>at Ferry Point from the Trump Organization in 2023, and it\u2019s now called Bally\u2019s Golf Links at Ferry Point.<\/p>\n

As part of the deal, Bally\u2019s agreed to provide the Trump Organization an additional $115 million \u2014 if it wins a casino license.<\/p>\n
