Google Maps<\/p>\n<p>The 2014 TV series, \u201cGenevieve\u2019s Renovation,\u201d showcased Gorder\u2019s process, as she transformed two side-by-side units into one four-bedroom home, where she lived with her daughter, Bebelle.<\/p>\n<p>Originally built in the 1850s, the 2,500-square-foot home has undergone many renovations, but Gorder made sure to keep some elements of the home\u2019s history<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wanted anything attached to the walls to reference the age of the home,\u201d Gorder told\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mansionglobal.com\/articles\/hgtv-genevieve-gorder-lists-longtime-manhattan-home-renovation-50126821?mod=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Mansion Global<\/a>. \u201cIn my heart, I\u2019m a\u00a0preservationist, but I don\u2019t want to live like a lady in the 1860s.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since the home is composed of two units, it includes two terraces in both the front and the back of the home. In addition to the outdoor spaces, the home includes access to a private park available to residents of the block.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mansion Global, Gorder purchased one of the units in 2004 and the other in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Originally built in the 1850s, the 2,500-square-foot home has undergone many renovations. Zandy Mangold<\/p>\n<p>Gorder became a household name in 2000, as one of the original designers of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/entertainment\/tlcs-meet-putnams-stars-bill-barb-putnam-daughter-in-law-killed-crash\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the TLC show<\/a>\u00a0\u201cTrading Spaces,\u201d and is often referred to as one of the key figures responsible for popularizing design television.<\/p>\n<p>After the show came to an end in 2007, she joined the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/entertainment\/tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">HGTV family<\/a>\u00a0in 2009 with the design show, \u201cDear Genevieve\u201d and also as a judge on \u201cHGTV Design Star.\u201d Most recently, she returned for the 2018 reboot of \u201cTrading Spaces\u201d and the series, \u201cAt Home with Genevieve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a February 2018 exclusive interview with Fox News, Gorder shared why she believes it is important for women to have a \u201cshe-shed,\u201d which she compared to a man-cave, calling it \u201ca place to escape to and just disconnect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gorder shared why she believes it is important for women to have a \u201cshe-shed,\u201d which she compared to a man-cave. But it\u2019s just as important to take care of ourselves and have that one special place where you can go to and physically restore yourself. Just a nook with little details that count and make those stubbed toes of life much better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She went on to explain that the space \u201cdoesn\u2019t have to be large,\u201d but just has to be \u201csomewhere you can find a physical separation from things that make you anxious or stressed and find peace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When it comes to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/lifestyle\/hgtv-host-genevieve-gorder-shares-design-tips-and-the-importance-of-the-she-shed\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">creating these spaces<\/a>, Gorder shared it is important to think about what is needed to feel comfortable: \u201cPart of feeling good and relaxed is also making sure everything you need to be comfortable is close.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, these special areas also span into food,\u201d she explained. \u201cLike, having a favorite snack handy or wine or something comforting. I do Fiber One Bars because they\u2019re satisfying.
