Kaplan said in a ruling today that the Republican administration\u2019s decision, based on the Big Apple\u2019s \u201csanctuary city\u201d protections for immigrants in the United States illegally, was \u201carbitrary, capricious, and a blatant violation of the law.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said he plans to\u00a0revoke federal funding<\/a>\u00a0for the $16 billion Hudson River Tunnel project, a move that could halt one of the nation\u2019s most critical infrastructure efforts.<\/p>\n 2.\u00a0NYPD launches new domestic violence unit to streamline cases, support survivors<\/a><\/p>\n The NYPD is launching a new unit dedicated to investigating domestic violence incidents in the city.<\/p>\n The Domestic Violence Unit, set to be the largest of its kind in the nation, will change how the department handles cases and supports survivors, Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said at a news conference.<\/p>\n 3.\u00a0Hochul won’t investigate MGM’s decision to drop Yonkers casino bid<\/a><\/p>\n Gov. Kathy Hochul said she will not investigate MGM\u2019s sudden decision to\u00a0withdraw its bid for a casino license\u00a0in Yonkers, despite calls from local officials to scrutinize the move.<\/p>\n Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, who\u00a0told \u201cMornings On 1\u201d<\/a>\u00a0that he was \u201cstunned\u201d by MGM\u2019s move, called on the governor to\u00a0launch an investigation\u00a0into their decision-making process.<\/p>\n 4.\u00a0How a ‘Talknology’ class helps students hone their social skills<\/a><\/p>\n With a cellphone ban now in place, many schools are focusing on helping students better interact without the use of screens.<\/p>\n At Staten Island Tech, they’ve been doing that for years \u2014 with a class called “Talknology,”\u00a0focused on developing social and interpersonal skills.\u00a0During a recent lesson, students were learning about the importance of a first impression \u2014 down to the finer points of a good handshake.<\/p>\n 5.\u00a0Owners of troubled Brooklyn concert venue file for demolition<\/a><\/p>\n The owners of a popular East Williamsburg concert venue, the Brooklyn Mirage, have filed for a permit to tear down part of the outdoor stage.<\/p>\n It comes after the Mirage’s reopening was canceled last minute after the city Department of Buildings ruled it unsafe back in May.<\/p>\n 6.\u00a0Campaign strategist weighs in on tonight’s mayoral debate<\/a><\/p>\n Tonight,\u00a0Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa will duke it out in the first mayoral debate of the general election.
