STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A 20-year-old Staten Island man has pleaded guilty to a gun charge stemming from a car stop in March that yielded five arrests and a loaded handgun, court records show. <\/p>\n

Antoine Thurmond of Mariners Harbor is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 12 to two years in prison and two years of post-release supervision in connection with the incident. He had pleaded guilty recently before Justice Alexander B. Jeong to second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon.<\/p>\n

Thurmond\u2019s attorney did not return a request for comment Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said the incident unfolded at about 12:20 a.m. on March 23 near Bement Avenue and Richmond Terrace in West Brighton<\/a>, when police observed Thurmond driving a gray Nissan Altima. <\/p>\n

Thurmond and four other males, all about the same age and from Mariners Harbor, were ordered out of the vehicle. A loaded gun was found in the vehicle and they were all arrested, court documents alleged. <\/p>\n

Officers who pulled over the vehicle were assigned to a specialized NYPD unit tasked in part with preventing violent crime on Staten Island.<\/p>\n

Police noted excessive tint on the car\u2019s windows as the reason for the traffic stop, which they confirmed with a tool that measures light transmittance, court documents stated. <\/p>\n
