The Vikings championship rings, courtesy of Gerald Peters jewelers.photo credit, Sea athletics<\/p>\nSTATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — St. Joseph by-the-Sea brought home a CHSAA AA Archdiocesan championship last May and head coach Nelson Ortiz\u2019s club was rewarded for its efforts with some beautiful hardware courtesy of Gerald Peters jewelry store.<\/p>\n
Gerald and Peter Amerosi, Sea graduates, and their staff welcomed the champion Vikings to their Dongan Hill\u2019s shop to present the team with rings, while Ortiz unveiled the school\u2019s championship banner that will hang in the rafters at the Huguenot school.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to thank Gerald Peters for their generosity and creativity in making up the special rings for our boys,\u201d Ortiz stated at the ceremony. \u201cThe team had a tremendous year, winning the championship and this is the icing on the cake. To keep it in the Sea family with getting them from alumni makes it even more special. They have a wonderful new store and we are grateful to them for hosting us on this special occassion.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Vikings took the title via a 6-1 win over Iona Prep at Fordham University. It was the school\u2019s third Archdiocesan title and first since 2021. The Vikings lost in the CHSAA Intersectionals (city tournament) two weeks later, but finished with a 20-5 overall record. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy brother (Gerald) and I are both St. Joseph by-the-Sea alumni and also played baseball for Sea and I also had the privilege of playing for coach Nelson (Ortiz), so it was truly a pleasure to donate the team\u2019s championship rings to celebrate such an incredible accomplishment,\u201d said Peter Amerosi, a 2009 grad. <\/p>\n
