POOL\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The hearing, expected to last a week, will probe whether police breached Mangione\u2019s rights by questioning him and searching his backpack before getting a warrant.<\/p>\n<p>If Judge Gregory Carro sides with the defense, he could deal Manhattan prosecutors a \u201cdevastating\u201d blow by barring them from showing jurors the key evidence cops found inside the backpack, including the murder weapon and a notebook where Mangione allegedly explained his motive.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/01\/us-news\/luigi-mangione-fans-line-up-for-chance-to-see-alleged-cold-blooded-killer-in-nyc-court\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">accused killer<\/a> plotted to \u201crebel against the deadly, greed fueled health insurance cartel\u201d by targeting Thompson, the head of \u201ca company that literally extracts human life force for money,\u201d according to excerpts of diary entries cited in court papers.<\/p>\n<p>Supporters of Luigi Mangione line up outside the courthouse.
