Olivia Nuzzi\u2019s tell-all book is finally here \u2014 and it paints a picture of obsessive love, drugs <\/a>and bad poetry from the \u201cworm\u201d-filled brain<\/a> of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is only called \u201cThe Politician.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 71-year-old Secretary of Health and Human Services allegedly wept as he told Nuzzi, \u201cI wish I could just be with you\u201d \u2014 and said she made him feel as free as the moment he was thrown from his runaway horse as a child.<\/p>\n

Nuzzi, 32, also claims in \u201cAmerican Canto\u201d<\/a> that the Kennedy scion wanted to impregnate her<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI would take a bullet for you,\u201d Kennedy allegedly told the former New York Magazine journalist \u2014 although that changed when their affair became public and he asked her to take a metaphorical bullet for him, she writes.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it\u2019s just sex, I can survive it,\u201d he allegedly said, seemingly asking her not to reveal their relationship as anything more complex. (Nuzzi has always maintained the affair was not consummated.)<\/p>\n

She also details the abrupt ending of their clandestine romance and how Kennedy sent her an \u201cacid note\u201d \u2014 even threatening to call the FBI on her ex-fianc\u00e9, Ryan Lizza, who allegedly leaked news of their affair. According to the book, it was Nuzzi who ended up speaking to the FBI, fearing that she had been hacked.<\/p>\n

Nuzzi first met Kennedy, who is married to \u201cCurb Your Enthusiasm\u201d actress Cheryl Hines, in 2023 when she interviewed him for New York Magazine during his failed presidential bid. She was then engaged to Lizza, a former Politico journalist.<\/p>\n

The Post has reached out to reps for Kennedy and Hines.<\/p>\n

The glamorous blonde writes how Kennedy, who famously struggled with substance abuse in the past and has long spoken of being sober, would smoke the hallucinogenic drug DMT in secret while his wife was out of the house.<\/p>\n

While she was on a video call with Kennedy on his 10th wedding anniversary, he turned over a framed photo of him and Hines, Nuzzi writes. AP<\/p>\n

The book describes DMT as sending users \u201cinto the stratosphere of ego death and back to earth in fifteen minutes.\u201d When she asked what it was like, Kennedy replied, \u201cit\u2019s just your classic psychedelic experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nuzzi also writes about hearing The Politician did another drug \u201cthat sometimes interfered with his ability to perform the work of campaigning for office. When I raised the subject, he denied it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy, she says, loved to show her photos from his younger years \u2014\u00a0and regale her with stories about his past.<\/p>\n

He told her about one summer when he lived with musicians Keith Richards and John Phillips \u2014 and The Mamas and The Papas singer purchased a pharmacy so they would have access to amphetamines.<\/p>\n

Nuzzi claims that as their love intensified, Kennedy told her, \u201cI need everything from you, Livvy.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe always said that. Mostly, it seemed sweet, earnest. \u2018Everything is yours,\u2019 I said. I always said that. He told me that he wanted to have his baby. This seemed earnest too,\u201d she writes.<\/p>\n

Nuzzi writes that they had such an intimate relationship that, during their video calls he was often shirtless and she could see signs of his life \u2014 like the toiletry bag filled with so many prescription drugs it could barely close.<\/p>\n

When, on his 10th wedding anniversary, Nuzzi spotted a framed photo of Hines and Kennedy in the background of their call, \u201che flipped it over, out of sight,\u201d she writes.<\/p>\n

In one saccharine moment, Kennedy recounts his childhood horse riding accident.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe closed his eyes. They are a startling kind of blue. Not blue as the seas but blue as the flame. When he opened them again, he was crying. [Being thrown by a horse] was the most free he had ever felt, he said, and he searched for that feeling, for that freedom for his whole life. He felt that freedom, he said, with me.\u201d<\/p>\n

She, in turn, was upset by stories about a worm infiltrating his brain.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hated the idea of an intruder therein,\u201d Nuzzi writes. Although he said a doctor had told him it was not a worm, it was too late to stop what had already become \u201cscrewy legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for another screwy story about Kennedy \u2014\u00a0that he dumped a bear carcass in Central Park<\/a> in 2014 \u2014\u00a0Nuzzi admits that she convinced him to \u201cget ahead\u201d of the story after a journalist found out about it in 2024. \u201cIt will help me with rednecks and hurt me with liberals,\u201d Kennedy ultimately decided.<\/p>\n

There was also \u201cexplicit\u201d poetry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am a river. You are my canyon. I mean to flow through you. I mean to subdue and tame you. My Love,\u201d Nuzzi says Kennedy wrote \u2014 adding that he also \u201cdescribed, along with other feralities, his plans for my \u2018womb.’\u201d<\/p>\n

But things came to a head, the journalist writes, when her mentor \u2014 podcaster Kara Swisher confirmed to The Post that it was she \u2014 found out about the Kennedy affair and went to Nuzzi\u2019s bosses at New York Magazine.<\/p>\n

She admits that she lied when confronted and claims that her boss suggested she pen a \u201ctell-all\u201d for the magazine and \u201cwrite your way out of this.\u201d (Through a New York Magazine spokesperson, editor-in-chief David Haskell declined comment.)<\/p>\n

When the story broke in September 2024, Kennedy told her Hines was \u201chysterical\u201d in Milan and had refused to be seen with him in public until after the election, while his alliance with Trump was \u201cfragile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kennedy read Nuzzi a message he had sent to Lizza, accusing him of violating their privacy and stalking Nuzzi.<\/p>\n

He threatened to go to the FBI, but \u201che then referred to me as a stalker,\u201d Nuzzi said incredulously. \u201cI\u2019m sorry, I had to exculpate myself,\u201d he told her.<\/p>\n

After leaving her job,<\/a> Nuzzi moved to Malibu, CA. and was hired as West Coast Editor at Vanity Fair, although that role may now be up in the air.<\/a><\/p>\n

Despite losing her fianc\u00e9, her home and her job, the author admits she still kept tabs on Kennedy\u2019s confirmation hearing and was stunned \u2014 after everything \u2014 to get message via his bodyguard<\/p>\n

\u201cJust, well, he\u2019s sorry,\u201d the Bodyguard said. \u201cI told him to let me handle this. I need you to read between the lines.\u201d<\/p>\n

Perhaps somewhat chastened, Nuzzi writes: \u201cA politician\u2019s greatest trick is to convince you that he is not one. And what is a politician?
