STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Scarlett Johansson is looking back on her very first date with husband Colin Jost that sent her running home before the clock even hit 10 p.m.<\/p>\n
During a conversation with Jenna Bush Hager on \u201cToday<\/a>,\u201d the actress opened up about how before meeting the Staten Island native, traditional dating wasn\u2019t really part of her life.<\/p>\n \u201cMy first date with Colin \u2014 you know, honestly, nobody ever asked me out really before,\u201d she said. When Bush Hager said she didn\u2019t believe that, Johansson doubled down: \u201cI\u2019m telling you, people say that but it\u2019s true.\u201d<\/p>\n She added that she had been a \u201cserial monogamist,\u201d and though she doesn\u2019t know why, she \u201cjust didn\u2019t get asked.\u201d That is, until Jost asked her on a proper dinner date.<\/p>\n \u201cWe went to an Italian restaurant in the East Village. It was a lovely date,\u201d Johansson said. \u201cWe had dinner at 8 p.m. or whatever. And then afterward he was like, I\u2019m meeting friends, let\u2019s go grab a drink.\u201d<\/p>\n But instead of heading to a second location, Johansson bailed.<\/p>\n \u201cI hadn\u2019t dated basically ever and so I was just like, \u2018I got to go now. I need to leave,\u2019\u201d she said, laughing. She rushed home to relieve her babysitter, who seemed shocked to see her back so early. \u201cIt was like 9:36 and she was like, \u2018Why are you home?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Johansson admitted she didn\u2019t have a good answer. \u201cI was like, I went on this date and it was \u2014 but, you know, I felt so flustered,\u201d she said. Later, Jost told her he thought that was the end of it because she was \u201cacting so weird.\u201d Looking back, she said simply, \u201cI panicked. I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n The Hollywood power couple met in 2010 while Johansson was filming a sketch Jost wrote for \u201cSNL.\u201d They have been romantically linked since 2017 but tied the knot in October 2020 in a small ceremony in Palisades, New York, surrounded by loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n They share a son, Cosmo, 4, while Johansson is also mom to Rose, 11, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.<\/p>\n Johansson \u2014 who has previously credited<\/a> the success of her marriage to moving \u201caround the world in the same way\u201d as Jost \u2014 remains one of Hollywood\u2019s busiest stars while Jost balances life at home with his two-decade career at \u201cSNL.\u201d<\/p>\n Jost returned this year to the \u201cWeekend Update\u201d desk of Season 51 of \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d alongside Michael Che for their 11th season together, the longest-running duo in the show\u2019s history.
