Murders was down significantly citywide, the NYPD announced on Tuesday, and November 2025 saw the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/news\/nypd-record-low-crime-stats-shootings-murder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">lowest number<\/a> of killings since the city began keeping crime records.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-234701\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC_1828.webp\" alt=\"police on shooting scene\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\"  \/>Police on the scene of an East Flatbush shooting earlier this month. File photo by Lloyd Mitchell<\/p>\n<p>But rape, assault, grand larceny and robbery all rose in Brooklyn in November.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rape was up more than 60%, the data show, from 28 incidents in November 2024 to 45 in November 2025.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p>The crime category rose most significantly in the Brooklyn North patrol, which covers ten precincts from Greenpoint to East New York. In Brownsville\u2019s 73rd Precinct, rape was up 600%, from one incident to seven; it jumped 300%, from one incident to four, in both Bushwick and Greenpoint.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On Nov. 6, a man followed a 12-year-old girl into a Williamsburg apartment building and brutally raped her. Cops <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/police-fire\/brooklyn-rape-suspect-arrested-11082025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">later arrested<\/a> 27-year-old Eric McMichael in connection with the attack. A day later, a 24-year-old man was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/police-fire\/brooklyn-rape-case-man-attacked-11132025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">raped<\/a> by stranger in a public park in Bay Ridge; and cops are still searching the suspect in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/police-fire\/brooklyn-woman-injured-attempted-rape\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">attempted rape<\/a> in East New York on Nov. 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-234704 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/DSC_7062.webp\" alt=\"rape suspect arrested\" width=\"700\" height=\"486\"  \/>The man suspected of raping a 12-year-old in Williamsburg was arrested on Nov. 7. File photo by Lloyd Mitchell<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ucr.fbi.gov\/crime-in-the-u.s\/2018\/crime-in-the-u.s.-2018\/topic-pages\/rape\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">UCR rape<\/a> and \u201cother sex crimes,\u201d which are not counted with felonies, were up 63.3% and 34%, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Assault was up 13%, for a total of 610 incidents, with steep increases in Canarsie\u2019s 69th Precinct, where assault more than doubled from 13 incidents to 28; and in Crown Heights\u2019 71st Precinct, which saw a 94% spike.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Robbery and grand larceny rose more slightly, by 1.6% and 5.8% respectively. Those thefts have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/theft-jumped-despite-overall-decline-bk-july-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">spiked sporadically<\/a> in Brooklyn since the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Outside of the major felonies, shootings rose in Brooklyn, statistics show, even as the city celebrated historically low rates of gun violence. Across the five boroughs, shootings were down 19% in November, and through the first 11 months of the year, New York City has broken its all-time low for shooting incidents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-234702 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Photo-Nov-17-2025-8-26-52-AM.webp\" alt=\"police on shooting scene\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\"  \/>Three people were shot \u2014 including a cop \u2014 and two killed during a dramatic incident in Brownsville on Nov. 17. File photo by Lloyd Mitchell<\/p>\n<p>While shooting incidents are down year-to-date in Brooklyn, they were up 21% in November compared to the same period last year. The borough also saw gun violence increase in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/august-2025-uptick-shootings-brooklyn\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">August<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/shootings-rape-rose-brooklyn-september-2025\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">September<\/a> and October.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One man was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/news\/man-shot-dead-illegal-nightclub-11182025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">shot and killed<\/a> inside a Sunset Park nightclub on Nov. 17, while two people were shot and wounded in unrelated incidents just hours apart in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/police-fire\/brooklyn-shooting-11232025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Flatlands<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/second-brooklyn-south-shooting-sunday-east-flatbush\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">East Flatbush<\/a> on Nov. 23.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/new-york\/brooklyn\/nypd-officer-shot-brooklyn-homicide-suspect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"> dramatic incident<\/a> in Brownsville on Nov. 17, a homicide suspect who had allegedly just shot and killed a 41-year-old man opened fire on police, striking and wounding one before he was shot and killed himself.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Shootings and gun violence rose in Brooklyn in November, per the NYPD.
