THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) \u2014 A Bronx man is behind bars after a string of vicious and random attacks on unsuspecting women, police said.<\/p>\n

Investigators say 23-year-old Jeremiah White<\/a> first unleashed his tirade on a nurse\u2019s aide walking to work \u2014 but it didn\u2019t stop there. Officials say he attacked two others, including a young girl.<\/p>\n

\u201cI told him, please stop, don\u2019t punch me, I\u2019m hurt, stop,\u201d said Virginia Alvarez, who was beaten within an inch of her life Wednesday morning in the Bronx.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018You killed my mother,\u2019 and pushed me and punched me \u2014 \u2018You killed my mother, you like that?\u2019 \u2014 punching, punching, punching me,\u201d Alvarez recalled.<\/p>\n

The nurse\u2019s aide was walking to work around 5:30 a.m. on University Avenue when she said she crossed paths with the devil.<\/p>\n

Surveillance video shows the savage and random attack, where White allegedly used his fists \u2014 and a metal pole \u2014 on the 46-year-old.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got a pole and hit me in the head,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for a civilian, I would be dead today.\u201d<\/p>\n

She believes that the man driving by saved her life by scaring off the attacker.<\/p>\n

But two hours later, police say White struck again \u2014 this time targeting a 15-year-old girl on her way to school on Louis Nine Boulevard.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s in the hospital, she can\u2019t talk \u2014 the poor girl,\u201d Alvarez said.<\/p>\n

Two hours after that, police say he attacked a 54-year-old woman on Franklin Avenue.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is sick. He\u2019s been used by the devil,\u201d said the suspect\u2019s godmother.<\/p>\n

White was arrested and arraigned on Thursday. Prosecutors say he attacked two other women as recently as September, only to be released.<\/p>\n

Alvarez\u2019s mother blames New York\u2019s bail reform laws for her daughter\u2019s injuries.<\/p>\n

\u201cPublic safety has gone down,\u201d said Carmen Figueroa. \u201cThe police do their job and they come right back out \u2014 we\u2019re losing a lot of lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

White was out on supervised release at the time of the attacks on Wednesday. He was not eligible for bail for his previous cases, according to the district attorney.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s now facing attempted murder charges and is being held on $600,000 bond.<\/p>\n
