An NYU pal of Amelia Lewis, the college student randomly assaulted<\/a> while walking to class this week, was herself attacked in the Big Apple earlier this year \u2014 and was the one who got her hands on the viral video that helped cops nab her friend\u2019s alleged tormentor.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I got Amelia\u2019s text, I was in class and felt sick,\u201d student Summer Armstrong said during an exclusive interview with Sirius XM host Megyn Kelly<\/a> on Wednesday. \u201cThis also happened to me once, and I was lucky enough to have footage.\u201d<\/p>\n NYU pals Amelia Lewis, left, and Summer Armstrong told Megyn Kelly they have both been attacked in the Big Apple. Storyful<\/p>\n Armstrong said she was the victim in a similar attack in May, with her assailant still on the loose.<\/p>\n \u201cMy assailant was never caught, but I knew footage is key,\u201d Armstrong told Kelly. \u201cMy first thought was, \u2018We need the footage, and we need to catch this guy.’\u201d<\/p>\n Armstrong, whose mom is friends with Kelly, said she rushed to Warehouse Wine and Spirits on Broadway, near where Lewis was slapped in the butt and shoved shortly before 9:30 a.m. Monday.<\/p>\n Amelia Lewis, 20, said she went online after her attack in Lower Manhattan to raise awareness about similar assaults. @amelia.lewis16<\/p>\n \u201cI walked in on FaceTime with Amelia,\u201d she said. \u201cI said, \u2018My friend was assaulted. Please check your footage around this time.\u2019 And they found it.\u201d<\/p>\n The footage went viral after it was posted online \u2014 including by Kelly, a former Fox News host \u2014 and helped cops identify ex-con James Rizzo, who was charged<\/a> with persistent sexual abuse and forcible touching in the attack by police on Tuesday.<\/p>\n Rizzo, a serial offender targeting women, was awaiting arraignment Wednesday night.<\/p>\n \u201cI had high hopes,\u201d Lewis told Kelly of cops arresting the suspect. \u201cThey were kind and said they were already aware of a man with a blue towel around his neck. But I think your platform \u2014 and X \u2014 really helped put pressure on them. I don\u2019t know if this would\u2019ve gotten as much attention without that, or without Summer getting the footage.\u201d<\/p>\n
