Erika Kirk expressed concern over women rallying behind Zohran Mamdani\u2019s mayoral race, noting she didn\u2019t want New York City females looking to the government as a \u201creplacement\u201d for marriage and children.<\/p>\n

The Turning Point USA CEO shared her opinions about the Mayor-elect during\u00a0The New York Times DealBook Summit 2025 on Wednesday, where she said she found it \u201cso ironic\u201d that Mamdani\u2019s supporters were largely made up of women.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there\u2019s a tendency, especially when you live in a city like Manhattan, where again, you are so career driven,\u201d Kirk shared, \u201cand you almost look to the government as a form of replacement for certain things \u2014 relationship-wise even.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cWhat I don\u2019t want to have happen is women, young women in the city, look to the government as a solution to put off having a family or a marriage because you\u2019re relying on the government to support you instead of being united with a husband.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Kirk clarified that she doesn\u2019t believe women need to be solely dependent on their husbands, adding \u201cyou guys can all combine together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kirk\u2019s comments have already sparked a big reaction on social media<\/a>, with many defending Mamdani\u2019s campaign platforms as being pro-women.<\/p>\n

\u201cMamdani\u2019s universal childcare and affordable housing agenda is so anti-family,\u201d one X user sarcastically commented on the video of Kirk\u2019s DealBook appearance. Another sounded off, \u201cView the government as a replacement for a family? What does that even mean?!\u201d<\/p>\n

A third bitingly wrote, \u201cCharlie Kirk taught me to not listen to single moms.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kirk stepped into the Turning Point USA CEO position after her husband, the founder of the conservative non-profit organization, was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University in September.<\/p>\n

However, as Kirk highlighted during her DealBook appearance, she\u2019s still a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can have individuals that will always resort to violence,\u201d she noted. \u201cAnd what I\u2019m afraid of is that we are living in a day and age where they think violence is the solution to them not wanting to hear a different point of view. That\u2019s not a gun problem. That\u2019s a human, deeply human problem.\u201d<\/p>\n
