STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A Port Richmond man busted with an illegal firearm while riding in a livery car on Staten Island has since been convicted and sentenced in the case, court records show. <\/p>\n

Rashad Porter, 21, of Harrison Avenue, pleaded guilty in June to second-degree attempted criminal possession of a firearm in connection with the April 9 incident. <\/p>\n

In exchange for his plea, Porter was sentenced in September in state Supreme Court, St. George, to six months in jail and five years probation. <\/p>\n

His attorney, a public defender with the Legal Aid Society, declined to comment. <\/p>\n

Pulled over in a livery car<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said the incident unfolded at approximately 9:15 p.m. near Targee Street and Vanderbilt Avenue in Clifton. <\/p>\n

The defendant was riding in a Tesla SUV when members of the NYPD\u2019s Community Response Team on Staten Island ordered him out of the vehicle, according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n

It was unclear in court documents why police approached the car. The intersection has long been plagued by gang and drug activity<\/a>, according to Advance\/SILive.com archives.<\/p>\n

Arresting officers recovered a 9 mm, semi-automatic, Taurus G2C pistol and an attached large-capacity ammunition-feeding device, the complaint continued. They also allegedly seized 30 oxycodone pills. <\/p>\n
