{"id":61039,"date":"2025-12-04T19:24:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-04T19:24:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/61039\/"},"modified":"2025-12-04T19:24:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-04T19:24:09","slug":"uber-data-reveals-blue-cities-have-highest-rideshare-prices-nationwide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/61039\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber data reveals blue cities have highest rideshare prices nationwide"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">EXCLUSIVE: Riders in blue cities like Seattle, Los Angeles and New York are being hit hard with some of the highest rideshare prices in the nation, according to new data from Uber.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The information, shared exclusively with Fox News Digital, compares cities with nearly identical costs of living and shows how dramatically Uber fares diverge among them.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/prices-remain-high-bigger-worry-now-falling-incomes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">WEAKENING INCOMES ADD NEW STRAIN TO HOUSEHOLDS ALREADY HIT BY HIGH PRICES<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/los-angeles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Los Angeles<\/a>, for instance, riders pay on average 1.8 times more for an Uber than riders in Miami, even though the cities have similar living costs. (Sebastian Gollnow\/picture alliance\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>Seattle offers a clear case study of how these policies can backfire.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, the city of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/us\/seattle\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Seattle<\/a> enacted a pay standard aimed at boosting driver earnings. But as prices climbed to absorb the higher labor costs, demand collapsed, leaving the policy to backfire on both riders and drivers.
