STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 While this kind of driving isn\u2019t uncommon on Staten Island, it doesn\u2019t make it any less dangerous.<\/p>\n
Recently submitted dash cam footage shows one driver who thought they didn\u2019t need to stop at a red light on one of the busiest roads on the North Shore.<\/p>\n
The video, submitted to the Advance\/SILive.com, shows a car approaching a red light on Richmond Terrace near the intersection of North Burgher Avenue in West Brighton right before the evening rush hour on Thursday, Oct. 2.<\/p>\n
In the video, a dark-colored sedan swerves into the lane of oncoming traffic and blows past the steady red signal.<\/p>\n
After running through the intersection, the sedan driver then hits the brakes and quickly swings back over to the right side of the street, trying to avoid the car approaching the intersection in the oncoming lane.<\/p>\n
As the sedan continues down Richmond Terrace, a pedestrian steps out from behind a nearby utility pole, getting ready to cross the road mere seconds after the vehicle raced through the intersection.<\/p>\n
