New York City police say they have a suspect in custody after a man allegedly lured a 13-year-old girl walking to school into a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.<\/p>\n

Police arrested 45-year-old O’Neil Kennedy, who has been charged with child endangerment, stalking, harassment, and public lewdness. Kennedy has at least seven prior arrests, including for assault and forcible touching.<\/p>\n

Authorities say the sexual assault happened in Seton Falls Park near East 233rd Street and Wilder Avenue just after 8:20 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n

The girl was on her way to school at the time when she was lured into the park. The suspect supposedly ordered her to lift her shirt and preformed a lewd act while watching her.<\/p>\n

The girl was not touched or injured.<\/p>\n

Residents say they will be keeping a closer eye on their kids and staying vigilant after the harrowing encounter.<\/p>\n

“I feel for the child and the parents and the parent…they probably work and can’t take their child back to school, so I feel for the parents,” one resident said.<\/p>\n
