STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Freshman John Greenwald gave St. Peter\u2019s the lead for good with a putback and later added a game-sealing three-pointer as St. Peter\u2019s earned a 43-37 CHSAA Staten Island overtime victory over host St. Joseph by-the-Sea Friday in Huguenot.<\/p>\n
Mikhial Lopez tied Sea\u2019s Robert Johnson for the game high with 12 points for the Eagles, who improved to 1-1 overall (1-0 CHSAASI). Greenwald (two treys) and Ryan Tuite (three treys) added nine points apiece while Ben Terry chipped in with seven for St. Peter\u2019s.<\/p>\n
In addition to Johnson, Rick Leto had seven points for the Vikings.<\/p>\n
After Johnson\u2019s late regulation bucket forced overtime, he opened the extra session with another basket to give the Vikings a 36-34 lead 45 seconds in.<\/p>\n
However, Terry and Lopez sandwiched a Jack Murphy free throw with one freebie apiece to cut SP\u2019s deficit to a point (37-36). <\/p>\n
Greenwald then gave the Eagles the lead after converting an offensive board into a bucket with 1:35 left. After Lopez added two free throws 15 seconds later, Greenwald put the game on ice with a top-of-the-key trey inside the final minute.<\/p>\n
