{"id":62769,"date":"2025-12-06T19:06:42","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T19:06:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/62769\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T19:06:42","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T19:06:42","slug":"christmas-at-historic-richmond-town-annual-tree-lighting-draws-staten-island-families-officials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/62769\/","title":{"rendered":"Christmas at Historic Richmond Town: Annual tree lighting draws Staten Island families, officials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EWKBO37WLBDAHETOX4BIUVFPQU\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.\u2014 The Christmas season is officially here. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WSYLAG5PNRHA3BGT5N5BR552WQ\">Basking in the dazzle and splendor of holiday cheer, Staten Island residents and community leaders gathered Friday for the annual Tree Lighting at Historic Richmond Town. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VWPA2CCZCFBKTJDVS6EJG5UULA\">The event kicked off with live music from local performers and a special appearance by Santa Claus, culminating with the 6 p.m. tree lighting, as borough families watched with warm drinks and festive treats in hand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZZJFUUB54JEFZO4C5T2HEDZGBU\">Historic Richmond Town CEO and Executive Director Jessica Phillips thanked everyone for attending, with a special nod to local representatives. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EOSD5EB2FNBJTEF6DVKX4YKZ5M\">\u201cI\u2019d like to thank all of them for coming tonight,\u201d said Phillips. \u201cThey do so much for us every day.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZEWONQ4XFRDHXJLXJAPAIX73NI\">Councilmember David Carr, a Republican whose Mid-Island district encompasses the Historic Richmond Town site, wished everyone the \u201chappiest of holidays and the merriest Christmas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JRTFM5NYMFAIVIRGWT6OHO43WY\">\u201cThis is one of the most wonderful times of the year and I\u2019m so glad to be able to be here tonight to celebrate with you all,\u201d Carr said. <\/p>\n<p>Christmas in Historic Richmond Town <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UT3V7QY63NFYVCWIWOCZ4WB2FM\">The festivities will continue at Historic Richmond Town on Saturday and Sunday, as families are welcome to explore the grounds and visit Santa and his elves. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"X3K5YWCYWNDD7ALUTPAFE7N3HM\">\u201cStep into a festive wonderland at New York City\u2019s only living history village this holiday season,\u201d reads the Historic Richmond Town website. \u201cThe two-day celebration offers something special for every member of the family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UFPGL5B5NJE6LDRABVU7GSWYO4\">Attractions are set to include hands-on historical demonstrations, unique handcrafted gifts created by traditional artisans, seasonal entertainment, horse-drawn carriage rides and seasonal refreshments. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JSO3ZD5W3NCWXEZRYTDDOBDMZY\">The event is scheduled to run from noon to 5 p.m. both days. Cost of general admission is $12.
