San Diego Police Department<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA 16-year-old boy was running for his life. He was not a threat and not a suspect, yet he was shot in the back by a police officer who only saw him for one second before deciding to pull the trigger.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If approved, the settlement would exceed the $27 million the city of Minneapolis agreed to pay the family of <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/16\/us-news\/minneapolis-still-broken-5-years-after-george-floyd-death\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">George Floyd<\/a>, whose May 2020 murder by a police officer who kneeled on his neck sparked a nationwide racial reckoning.<\/p>\n<p>Surveillance and body-worn camera footage from Jan. 28 showed Wilson running away from someone who pulled a gun and fired at him in a downtown train station. <\/p>\n<p>As he exited the station, Wilson encountered San Diego Police Officer Daniel Gold.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.77777778;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37861344\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/photo-taken-body-worn-camera-116861447.jpg\" alt=\"Still from bodycam footage showing a police officer's arm and gun aimed at a fleeing Black teen at night.\" class=\"wp-image-37861344\"  \/>This photo, taken from a body-worn camera video, shows the moment before a San Diego police officer fatally shot Wilson as he ran away from gunfire.
