BROOKLYN, N.Y. — St. Peter\u2019s Varsity ice hockey team exploded offensively on Friday night, overpowering Holy Cross, 11\u20132, in CHSAA A Division action at the Aviator Rink. <\/p>\n
The victory evens the Eagles\u2019 record at 2\u20132 and showcased a lineup firing on all cylinders.<\/p>\n
From the opening faceoff, St. Peter\u2019s set the tone. Nick Aversa struck just 32 seconds into the game, burying a feed from Anthony Antenucci and Joseph Donadio to make it 1\u20130. Moments later, Antenucci delivered again \u2014 this time a perfectly threaded pass to Kingston Vandenheuvel, who snapped home the Eagles\u2019 second goal only 1:26 later.<\/p>\n
Antenucci wasn\u2019t done. At 4:39, he went coast-to-coast, slicing through the defense to extend the lead to 3\u20130.<\/p>\n
What followed was an avalanche of St. Peter\u2019s offense.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Donadio, set up by Danny Pieters, made it 4\u20130.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Kyle Tuite scored his first varsity goal off a setup from Charles Bailey for a 5\u20130 advantage.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Donadio struck again \u2014 his second of the night \u2014 off a feed from Antenucci to push the lead to 6\u20130.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Giancarlo Sears, assisted by Vandenheuvel, capped St. Peter\u2019s dominant first period with the team\u2019s seventh goal.<\/p>\n
Holy Cross got one back, but the Eagles ended the opening frame firmly in control, up 7\u20131.<\/p>\n
The second period brought more milestones. James Boylan netted his first varsity goal, finishing a clean pass from Nick King to make it 8\u20131. Moments later, Avery Lee scored his first varsity goal as well, an unassisted effort that stretched the lead to 9\u20131.<\/p>\n
With just nine seconds left in the period, Antenucci once again went end-to-end, completing his brilliant night with another dazzling goal and sending St. Peter\u2019s into the intermission up 10\u20132.<\/p>\n
In the third, Sears struck again \u2014 this time off another Antenucci setup \u2014 to close out the scoring at 11\u20132.<\/p>\n
Antenucci led the team with two goals and four assists, while Sears (2G, 1A), Donadio (2G, 1A), Vandenheuvel (1G, 1A), and King (2A) powered a balanced offensive performance. <\/p>\n
Goaltender Christopher DiDonna was strong between the pipes, making 21 saves.<\/p>\n
