NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2013 After a week-long delay, Section 8 payments<\/a> are going out to New York City landlords, officials said.<\/p>\n

The New York City Housing Authority announced on Dec. 1 that its payments would be delayed for the month. It comes after the longest government shutdown<\/a> in U.S. history of 43 days.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, NYCHA <\/a>announced it had received the necessary federal funding to start paying Section 8 landlords.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Monday, December 8, NYCHA expects to start processing payments and landlords should begin to see these payments shortly thereafter,\u201d the agency said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Section 8 is a federally funded rent program, meaning city officials must wait for funding from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.<\/p>\n
