NEW YORK (WABC) — Supermarket chain Wegmans is recalling two varieties of its deluxe mixed nuts due to possible salmonella contamination.<\/p>\n
The recalled Deluxe Unsalted Mixed Nuts varieties were sold in 34 oz. tubs and 11.5 oz. plastic bags. The tub version has a best by date of July 28, 2026, while the bag variety has a best by date of Aug. 10, 2026.<\/p>\n
The nuts were sold in Wegmans stores between November 3 and December 1 in at least 10 states, including New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Other states impacted by the recall include Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Washington, D.C.<\/p>\n
Wegmans says routine testing by its supplier found one lot of raw pistachios to be positive for salmonella. A recall was issued after it was determined the pistachios had been used in the production of the Deluxe Unsalted Mixed Nuts products.<\/p>\n
Customers who bought the affected nuts can return them to a Wegmans store for a full refund.<\/p>\n
According to the Food and Drug Administration, no illnesses associated with the consumption of the recalled products have been reported so far.<\/p>\n
The FDA says salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people and those with weakened immune systems. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.<\/p>\n
