\n\tThe New York Watch Auction<\/a>: XIII, which included the sale of filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s custom watch<\/a>, became the highest-grossing watch auction in history on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe auction\u2019s 10th anniversary for Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo also extended Phillips Watches<\/a>\u2019 streak to five consecutive years of\u00a0100 percent-sold \u201cwhite glove\u201d live auctions in New York.<\/p>\n

\n\tCoppola\u2019s one-of-a-kind\u00a0F.P. Journe\u00a0FFC Prototype led the auction, selling for $10.8 million to an anonymous bidder on the phone. The sale marked a new world auction record for F.P. Journe and a new record for a watch by an independent watchmaker.<\/p>\n

\n\tPaul Boutros, deputy chairman and head of watches, Americas, and Isabella Proia, head of sale and senior international specialist,\u00a0said in a joint statement,\u00a0\u201cWith over 2,000 registered bidders, we proudly closed Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo\u2019s 10th anniversary year on an incredibly high note. Collectors responded enthusiastically to the opportunity to acquire Francis Ford Coppola\u2019s personal timepieces, achieving stellar results for all seven watches consigned by the Hollywood icon. From the record-breaking FFC Prototype, to the Chronom\u00e8tre \u00e0 R\u00e9sonance \u2018FFC\u2019 that soared to $584,500, to the no reserve Breguet that sold for 15 times its low estimate, it is clear that the admiration for Mr. Coppola and his taste in watches cannot be overstated. We are honored to have been entrusted with his collection.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAfter a successful first day of the auction, which saw J.P. Journe and Philippe Dufour secure nine of the top ten lots, momentum for J.P. Journe continued on day two with the $3.7 million sale of the Chronom\u00e8tre \u00e0 R\u00e9sonance \u201cSincere Fine Watches\u201d with the black mother-of-pearl dial.<\/p>\n
