{"id":64045,"date":"2025-12-08T10:47:08","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:47:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/64045\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T10:47:08","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T10:47:08","slug":"nyc-ferry-launches-route-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-monday-what-you-need-to-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/64045\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC Ferry launches route between Staten Island and Brooklyn Monday: What you need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YY5GBVH4Y5G6JGB5GUGWXZTO5U\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 On Monday morning, Staten Island and Brooklyn will once again be connected by boat, with the NYC Ferry set to launch its first trip from St. George to Bay Ridge at 6:05 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BSJU3RAB3ZHGNJIIIYO3WKWNGA\">After nearly four years of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/2021\/10\/petition-calls-for-staten-island-brooklyn-fast-ferry-route.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/news\/2021\/10\/petition-calls-for-staten-island-brooklyn-fast-ferry-route.html\">Staten Islanders pushing for the connection<\/a>, the New York City Economic Development Corporation \u2014 which runs the NYC Ferry \u2014 announced in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/11\/long-awaited-ferry-service-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-to-be-restored-next-month.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/11\/long-awaited-ferry-service-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-to-be-restored-next-month.html\">November that a route would run between the two boroughs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BTH2Q4RG65AFNB4YRHPB34OFT4\">A ferry used to run between Staten Island and Brooklyn, but it was put out of service within days of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge opening in 1964.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZFSWU3ZXBVFWVC6GI4P7EQ7ETE\">Instead of creating a another line for the new service, NYC Ferry expanded the existing St. George route, which previously only ran to Manhattan\u2019s west side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7ECQGYMNINBGHD65QQ3Q5FMRA4\">Now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-service-between-staten-island-brooklyn-here-are-details-on-the-new-route.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-service-between-staten-island-brooklyn-here-are-details-on-the-new-route.html\">the route will operate in two legs<\/a>. The first will still connect to western Manhattan, with stops at Battery Park City and Midtown West at Pier 79.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5AEXICNFLVFA7CPE4YKKL7RBL4\">The new second leg will run between the existing fast ferry stops in St. George and the American Veterans Memorial Pier at 69th Street in Bay Ridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UHXVLYOE6RALXCAFFYN474UCPI\">After Bay Ridge, the route will continue to the Atlantic Avenue stop at Brooklyn Bridge Park and finally Wall Street\/Pier 11 stop Staten Island <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-service-from-staten-island-to-brooklyn-where-else-will-the-boats-connect.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-service-from-staten-island-to-brooklyn-where-else-will-the-boats-connect.html\">commuters can transfer to the rest of the NYC Ferry system, which mainly operates in the East River<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"T5JYXTNAORFJLP4J2DMNK6WFTA\">From here, other travelers can pick up other NYC Ferry routes that go to Governors Island, Rockaway, Ferry Point Park and Astoria, among others. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6BN3QD5L7JECJGLOR4CRG26TUY\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-from-staten-island-to-brooklyn-whats-near-the-stop-in-bay-ridge.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-from-staten-island-to-brooklyn-whats-near-the-stop-in-bay-ridge.html\">Near the ferry stop in Bay Ridge<\/a> is the B9 bus to King\u2019s Plaza or the B64 line that runs to Coney Island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QPZC44A65RHYNAY6ML4NQI7MME\">Around five city blocks away is the Bay Ridge Avenue station for the R train, located near the intersection of Bay Ridge Avenue and Fourth Avenue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IMVUHKTVNJF3JIGMWRP7QGGR4U\">With the expansion of the St. George route, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-service-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-when-will-the-boats-run.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-service-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-when-will-the-boats-run.html\">ferry boats will run approximately every 37 minutes during peak hours<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"3DOG25M2LNFWDH2DUWOXZJY444\">Trips will be scheduled around 50 minutes apart during non-peak hours.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BWM7DEYNBVDRDL4ERNIQVEZ7K4\">On weekdays, the first boat to the west side departs at 6:04 a.m., with the first trip to Brooklyn leaving St. George around 6:05 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PV7WPFTA4RCI3MEQNEGHQAE2ME\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-to-begin-service-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-how-much-will-it-cost.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.silive.com\/transportation\/2025\/12\/nyc-ferry-to-begin-service-between-staten-island-and-brooklyn-how-much-will-it-cost.html\">Tickets will cost $4.50 per one-way trip.<\/a> Riders can also purchase a 10-trip pass for $29 or an unlimited two-day ticket for $15.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GZKNVAG3MVHGZK2OFQGMVP5IOE\">Tickets can be
