The Big Apple just went 12 days without a single homicide \u2014 the longest streak in nearly a decade, the NYPD said Monday.<\/p>\n
The zero-homicide stretch ended Sunday night when a 38-year-old man was shot in the head in the Bronx.<\/p>\n
Prior to the latest slaying, New York City hasn\u2019t gone that many consecutive days without a homicide since 2015, according to police.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight strategy. Great execution. That\u2019s how you set record after record,\u201d NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said as she touted the latest crime figures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you to the members of the NYPD who have sacrificed so much this year to drive down violent crime to record lows.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, murders dropped last month to the lowest level since 2018 with 16 slayings, the latest crime data show.<\/p>\n

In November, there were also zero murders in all of Queens and Staten Island, police said.<\/p>\n
