And for locals and visitors alike, one of the season’s highlights is the opening of holiday markets across the city. Public spaces transform into miniature winter villages, filled with artisan-made gifts and holiday treats. It’s the easiest way to cross everything off your shopping list, warm up with a cozy cup of hot chocolate<\/a>, and see the city at its most festive\u2014all in one stop. <\/p>\n

We rounded up seven of the best holiday markets across New York City worth a visit this year. Happy holidays! <\/p>\n

The Union Square Holiday Market by Urbanspace<\/a> is the city’s largest and longest-running. Since 1993, the area around 14th Street has turned into a winter wonderland loosely modeled after Germany’s historic Christmas markets. <\/p>\n

This year, nearly 200 vendors are open daily through Christmas Eve. You’ll find a bit of everything, but this is the ideal market for buying unique, handmade gifts. <\/p>\n

Bank of America Winter Village At Bryant Park <\/p>\n

If Union Square’s Holiday Market is for shoppers, the Winter Village at Bryant Park<\/a> is the place for a more festive ambience. This sprawling market has all the classics: free-admission ice skating, a rinkside food hall, and even insulated igloos by reservation. <\/p>\n

The Winter Village features about 170 vendors, plus more room to wander and activities to keep you entertained. Shopping runs through early January, and the rest of the village continues into the first few months of 2026. <\/p>\n

Herald Holiday Market <\/p>\n

Want to experience your own Miracle on 34th Street? Head to the Herald Holiday Market<\/a>, which stretches along Broadway near the iconic Macy’s. There are fewer gift stalls for holiday shopping than in Union Square or Bryant Park, but it makes up for it in spades with food vendors\u2014ideal if you want the best bites of New York City. <\/p>\n

You can sample everything from cannoli to empanadas to candied fruit skewers. And new this year is a Herald Haus & Bar<\/a>, a heated beer garden for relaxing with a brew and Bavarian pretzels. The Herald Holiday Market is open daily through January 3. <\/p>\n

Columbus Circle Holiday Market\"the\"pinterest\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you’re short on time, the Columbus Circle<\/a> Holiday Market, also by Urbanspace, features many of the same vendors you’d find at the other outposts. This one is in a prime location right at the base of Central Park. <\/p>\n

It’s easy to stop after an afternoon park stroll or a performance at the nearby Lincoln Center or Carnegie Hall. Consider it the best place for a pre-show snack setup that’s open daily through the end of the year. <\/p>\n

Grand Holiday Bazaar<\/p>\n

On the Upper West Side near the American Museum of Natural History, the Grand Holiday Bazaar<\/a> is a seasonal spin on the city’s oldest flea market. You’ll find the same year-round vendors as well as special seasonal additions. But the best part? All profits go to four local public schools. It’s open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. <\/p>\n

New York winters can be pretty brutal, especially at open-air holiday markets. For that same magic but in a heated space, head to Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal. <\/p>\n

Grand Central Holiday Fair<\/a> features a wide range of vendors to help you finish your entire holiday shopping list in one go. <\/p>\n

Look for plenty of special events throughout the season, like the TikTok Holiday Emporium<\/a> and a vintage market<\/a>. The fair will be open through Christmas Eve. <\/p>\n

Williamsburg Winter Village<\/p>\n

A newcomer to the holiday scene, the Williamsburg Winter Village<\/a> offers a ticketed (under $12) option featuring some of the city’s favorite local vendors, live entertainment for all ages, and a visit from Santa! It’s pet-friendly and great for families with small children who want a less overwhelming holiday market experience.
