{"id":64525,"date":"2025-12-08T18:35:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T18:35:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/64525\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T18:35:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T18:35:06","slug":"staten-island-hs-wrestling-port-richmond-new-dorp-fare-well-in-tourney","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/64525\/","title":{"rendered":"Staten Island HS wrestling: Port Richmond, New Dorp fare well in tourney"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XGJ3K5XM3NDG7OYNJHPPSYBTUI\">BROOKLYN, N.Y. &#8212; The New Dorp and Port Richmond wrestling teams competed in the Yuri Vilenskiy Memorial Tournament at Edward Murrow HS in Brooklyn on Saturday and came away with five firsts and more than a dozen other placers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KT55WFKWXNHMRGZYMOVKCQ447Y\">PR had six of seven grapplers place in their weight classes in the main bracket with Barry Adewumi placing first at 118 pounds. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"X2TEFX3S2BBORCS3T5NBLAJKHI\">Jayden Adesanya placed second at 190, while Douglas Diaz (heavyweight) and Marcel Rice (220 pounds) each placed fourth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"66WGETVOT5H7DD7DPIVKTGCIMY\">In the Novice division, Deric Kautras and Darrius Hines both placed in their very first tournaments. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2HYEAJCFOJHQTFAV4QL5QXFBAI\">Meanwhile, New Dorp had the following wrestlers place: Mohammed Munir (second at 110), Malik Ayesh second at 215), Sami Zahrieh (third at 215), Sam Cocozza (third at 190), Aiden Minacapilli (fourth at 165) and Heivin Yu (fourth at 138).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ASOOVB4MEZCUTEHRE427L366QM\">In the Novice division, New Dorp\u2019s Andy Liu won the 215-pound division, while Luis Olvera was the champ at 126 pounds.
