The shooter fled the scene. It was not clear what happened before the shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Boyd was hospitalized after the shooting but a few weeks later <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jets-kris-boyd-602becd2b85452d1aa3819ab47cab79e\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">visited<\/a> the Jets\u2019 facility, surprising teammates and attending a special team meeting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Jets signed Boyd, 29, this year. He was expected to play a key role in a revamped special teams unit but was <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/jets-kris-boyd-2e3c465a95c41ccd4b1ff086bbfcb552\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">injured<\/a> during a practice this summer and has not yet played for New York.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The Texas native played his first four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
