Perinton, N.Y. (WHAM) \u2014 The search for a missing boy from New York City took investigators more than 300 miles away Thursday to a landfill in Monroe County.<\/p>\n
Jacob Pritchett, 11, who is nonverbal and on the autism spectrum, has not been seen in several weeks, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD). <\/p>\n
The investigation into his whereabouts began September 25 after a welfare check at his mother’s apartment on Howard Avenue in Brooklyn. The mother claimed she didn’t have a child.<\/p>\n
Yet, NYPD said officers returned a few days later and found a birth certificate with the woman listed as the mother. She has since been taken into custody at a hospital for evaluation, according to WABC<\/a>.<\/p>\n Investigators searched the building, backyard and nearby dumpsters, but did not find any signs of the boy, WABC<\/a> said.
