STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Sophomore Aliya Monroe scored a career-high 23 points and fellow sophomore Savannah Breslin also netted a career-high 17 points to go along with seven assists as Notre Dame Academy opened its CHSAA AA season with an 80-55 victory over Mary Louis Academy last Saturday at the College of Staten Island. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a great way to open our AA League schedule,\u201d said NDA coach Bobby Della Valle, whose team improved to 2-0 overall. \u201cAll 11 players who checked in found the scoreboard, and two of our sophomores reached career highs. We shared the ball incredibly well, finishing with 24 assists as a team. That\u2019s the type of basketball we\u2019re proud of.\u201d <\/p>\n
Caroline Kasegrande added 11 points and five assists, while Gianna Montagna led the defense with four steals. <\/p>\n
