Shariq Bryant, 27, was struck and killed in a crash early Saturday morning on Boston Road and East 222nd Street.<\/p>\n
“I feel like he’s still here with me. But one day I’m going to have to accept the fact that he’s gone. But like, for now, he’s not gone. He’s still here,” said a longtime friend named Rajief.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video shows a BMW speeding down East 222nd Street, crashing into Bryant as he crossed the street.<\/p>\n
Video shows the vehicle crash into a telephone pole.<\/p>\n
Police said the driver took off. Bryant died at a hospital.<\/p>\n
There is a growing memorial of candles near the intersection where he was killed.<\/p>\n
News 12 spoke with Bryant’s friends.<\/p>\n
They said he was leaving a bar late Saturday evening but never made it home.<\/p>\n
They spoke highly of him.<\/p>\n
“Like a real, genuine person that makes you want to do genuine stuff for other people, too. He rubs off on you,” said a longtime friend named Davion.<\/p>\n
Friends shared their difficulty processing this loss.<\/p>\n
“All of us… all of his friends are still in shock. It doesn’t feel real. It still doesn’t feel real to this day. I just spoke to him, and now I’ll never speak to him again,” said Rajief.<\/p>\n
