ORLANDO, Fla. \u2014 They came, they saw, they left?<\/p>\n

There are still a few hours remaining before the winter meetings wrap up and the Yankees contingent flies back to New York, but it certainly appears that the club will not have anything tangible to show for it, though they are far from alone in that regard as general manager Brian Cashman described the market as moving at a \u201cglacial speed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t accomplished anything,\u201d Cashman said Wednesday morning. \u201cWe\u2019re just staying engaged, trying to match up with some things, but it\u2019s been tough so far. Don\u2019t like the asks coming our way and I guess the opposing teams, what I\u2019m trying to pull from them on the trade stuff, they\u2019re not liking currently. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut we do have some conversations that possibly could lead somewhere. But clearly if we had something, we would have done it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Yankees\u2019 biggest target is Cody Bellinger, but there has been little indication that his market has moved all that much, even after Kyle Schwarber \u2014 who some executives and agents thought could be the domino to other moves happening \u2014 re-signed with the Phillies on Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n

In part because of their internal left field options like Jasson Dom\u00ednguez and Spencer Jones, the Yankees appear willing to wait on Bellinger instead of overspending just to lock him up now. <\/p>\n

And Cashman indicated that they are in a position to make moves while waiting on Bellinger \u2014 unlike last winter, when their offseason was held up waiting on a decision by Juan Soto.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we\u2019re opportunistic,\u201d Cashman said. \u201cWe like our players, that is a fact. But there\u2019s players outside of our current control system that we also like and may very well like more and better because there\u2019s a lot more certainty there, which comes at a cost, whether it\u2019s a trade acquisition or free-agent dollars. So it\u2019s my job to play on that stuff and try to figure that out.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we come to an area that, \u2018This makes a lot of sense,\u2019 then we\u2019re ready to pounce and change the equation. But if not, we like what we have, too, at the same time. Jasson Dom\u00ednguez is on his journey and Spencer Jones is just beginning his journey. Those are two names.<\/p>\n
