\u201cAs far as that goes, seems like right now (Wednesday afternoon), the best chance for some snow across our area would be Saturday night into Sunday morning,\u201d Feerick said. \u201cCertainly the speed of that storm lends itself to not necessarily being a big storm, per se, but it certainly could end up being the first accumulating snow of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
Although the storm may not dump several inches of snow on the Island, it could result in slippery roadways for those traveling in and around the city.<\/p>\n
This storm is forecast to strengthen from the consolidation of two pieces of energy. However, as of Tuesday afternoon, Feerick foresees this enhancement taking place off the coast of the U.S. once this storm passes New York City<\/p>\n
\u201cBut if they were to consolidate a little bit faster, you know, conceivably that would slow things down a little bit,\u201d added Feerick. \u201cA slower event would lead itself to having more snow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Feerick believes the storm will be fast-moving, however, meteorologists will continue to monitor the speed of the system as the weekend approaches.<\/p>\n

While the city will have to go a few more days before potentially seeing snow, other parts of the state received measurable precipitation on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Areas well north and west of the city, such as the Poconos and Catskills, have been receiving snow since the early afternoon, according to Feerick. Precipitation from that same system is falling as rain in the five boroughs because it remains too warm Wednesday.<\/p>\n
