The NFL has its first midseason coaching firing of 2025.<\/p>\n

The Titans fired head coach Brian Callahan on Monday after the team fell to 1-5 with an ugly 20-10 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Callahan, 41, was in just his second season with Tennessee and finishes his disappointing tenure with a 4-19 record.<\/p>\n

Senior offensive assistant Mike McCoy, the former Chargers head coach, was named interim Titans head coach.<\/p>\n

Clearly feeling the heat after Sunday\u2019s loss, Callahan called out rookie quarterback Cam Ward<\/a>, whom the Titans selected No. 1 overall in this year\u2019s draft.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am incredibly discouraged by the outcome,\u201d Callahan said Sunday. \u201cWe felt good coming into the game. To not be able to perform well on offense and not be able to score any points and then lose the game is disappointing. And we all gotta be better, Cam\u2019s a part of that too, Cam\u2019s gotta play better football as well. We gotta coach better, we gotta play better, all those things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The firing comes as the Titans welcome their former head coach, Mike Vrabel, and the Patriots to town in Week 7.<\/p>\n

Ward, 23, has struggled to begin his NFL career. He\u2019s completing just 55 percent of his passes through six games with 1,101 yards passing, three touchdowns and four interceptions.<\/p>\n

The Titans are fortunate not to be winless along with the Jets as Cardinals running back Emari Demercado\u2019s boneheaded fumble before crossing the plane of the end zone in Week 5 allowed Tennessee to come away with a 22-21 victory.<\/p>\n

Callahan \u2014 whose father Bill is a former Raiders head coach and longtime offensive line coach who currently holds that role with the Titans \u2014 was the Bengals offensive coordinator for five seasons before joining Tennessee.
