Dr. Suven Cooper was named 2025 Unsung Hero by American College of Physicians.Courtesy of RUMC<\/p>\nSTATEN ISLAND, NY \u2014 Two physicians at Richmond University Medical Center received national recognition for their contributions to medicine, with each earning distinct honors in emergency medicine and radiology.<\/p>\n
Dr. Suven Cooper, an attending physician in the hospital\u2019s Emergency Department, was named to the New York Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians\u2019 2025 class of Unsung Heroes. The annual recognition goes to emergency medicine professionals who demonstrate exceptional commitment to patients and colleagues.<\/p>\n
Cooper earned his medical degree from the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont in 2019 and completed his residency training at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He joined Richmond University Medical Center in 2022, where he serves as an attending physician and assistant professor of emergency medicine. Cooper is also a Mount Sinai physician seeing patients at the medical center.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thrilled that Dr. Cooper received this recognition,\u201d said Dr. Johnathon LeBaron, chair of emergency medicine at RUMC. \u201cDr. Cooper is the type of physician you aspire to be, both in terms of clinical acumen and bedside manner. The honor is well deserved, and we are proud he was acknowledged.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to ACEP-New York, an Unsung Hero \u201cgoes beyond simply being the embodiment of what it means to be an emergency physician\u201d and is \u201cdeeply committed to the mission of the Emergency Department, their colleagues, co-workers and patients.\u201d The organization represents more than 3,200 emergency medicine professionals across New York state.<\/p>\n
Separately, Dr. Joe George was named to the Radiology Business Forty Under 40 Class of 2025. George serves as a neuroradiologist and section chief of Neuroradiology at RUMC. He attended medical school at the American University of Antigua, completed his radiology residency at RUMC, and finished a fellowship in neuroradiology at SUNY Upstate Medical School.<\/p>\n
