Fired\u00a0Wolverines football coach Sherrone Moore<\/a>\u2018s executive assistant at the University of Michigan was given a hefty pay hike in the past year, according to public records.<\/p>\n

Moore, 39, a married father of three,\u00a0was fired Wednesday over an alleged \u201cinappropriate relationship with a staffer\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and subsequently arrested following an altercation at an address in Pittsfield Township, Mich.<\/p>\n

His executive assistant, Paige Shiver saw her salary spike from $58,025 in 2024 to $90,000, without any apparent change in job title, according to publicly available figures on college staffer salaries.<\/p>\n

Shiver, a 32-year-old Purdue grad from West Lafayette, Indiana, is the daughter of a longtime scout for the Chicago Bears.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police were called to the apartment complex, where one-bed apartments are available for $1,800 to rent, around 4 p.m. Wednesday \u201cfor the purposes of investigating an alleged assault,\u201d according to a statement from Pittsfield Township police.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the latest on former Michigan coach Sherrone Moore<\/p>\n

Less than an hour after the police investigation, Moore\u2019s firing was announced in a statement by Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel.<\/p>\n

He was fired with cause after an outside investigation found \u201ccredible evidence\u201d of an \u201cinappropriate relationship\u201d with a staffer, according to a statement. The woman Moore was having the affair with has not been officially named.<\/p>\n

Wolverines insider publication Maize and Blue Review reported that the scandal began to spiral out of control on Monday when Moore was told to distance himself from the staffer, and he fired her.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She then came to the university with evidence of the affair, and that prompted Manuel to terminate Moore \u201cfor cause,\u201d according to the publication.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Being fired for cause could mean that Michigan has no obligation to pay out the remaining estimated $14.5 million to $16 million on Moore\u2019s contract.<\/p>\n

Moore was being\u00a0held in Washtenaw County Jail\u00a0<\/a>after he was booked at around 8 p.m. Wednesday. He is set to appear in court for arraignment on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement, and as a result, we do not expect charging decisions or an arraignment today. Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail,\u201d Prosecutor Eli Savit\u00a0told the Detroit Free Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs this remains an active investigation, we are unable to comment further at this time, but our office will provide an update once a decision on charges is made,\u201d the statement concluded.<\/p>\n
