The man who bestowed the Polar Bear nickname<\/a> on Pete Alonso\u00a0is feeling frosty.<\/p>\n

Former Mets third baseman Todd Frazier ripped his old team for parting ways with three of their longest-tenured stars in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

This week, the Mets saw Alonso, their longtime slugger, bolt for a five-year pact with the Orioles<\/a>, and superstar closer Edwin Diaz join the back-to-back World Series champion Dodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

New York also traded fan-favorite outfielder Brandon Nimmo to the Rangers for Marcus Semien in November.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m confused, you sign Juan Soto to a monster deal, but that should\u2019ve been your top priority to get these guys back,\u201d Frazier said Thursday on \u201cFoul Territory.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Former Mets third baseman Todd Frazier blasted the team for not re-signing Pete Alonso or Edwin Diaz and trading Brandon Nimmo.<\/p>\n

Aside from inking former Yankees closer Devin Williams to a three-year contract, the Mets have not made any major moves, and they must plug several holes<\/a> to compensate for the high-profile departures.<\/p>\n

Alonso (Orioles) and Diaz (Dodgers) both left the Mets after signing free agent contracts this week. for the NY POST<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s not that many players out there that have the ability of what Pete Alonso can do in a baseball game,\u201d Frazier said. \u201cEdwin Diaz one of the best closers we\u2019ve seen in our generation. Brandon Nimmo, is solid as all can be.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose are three guys any team would take in a heartbeat.<\/a>\u201c<\/p>\n

After the Mets\u2019 collapse in 2025 in which the team failed to make the playoffs, president of baseball operations David Stearns firmly stated that \u201crunning back the exact same group wasn\u2019t the right thing to do<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the wake of Alonso and Diaz\u2019s departures, owner Steve Cohen told The Post\u2019s Jon Heyman in a text message<\/a> \u201cthere\u2019s a lot of offseason left to put a team on the field.\u201d<\/p>\n

A two-time All-Star, Todd Frazier spent parts of three seasons with the Mets from 2018 to 2020. Paul J. Bereswill<\/p>\n

However, Frazier disputed the logic in breaking up the core over one disappointing season.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll right, now you\u2019re not all in, now what are you gonna do?\u201d Frazier asked. \u201cWhat is the next step for the Mets? There\u2019s not that many out there.<\/p>\n
