BROOKLYN NAVY YARD \u2014 The Wythe Diner, a 57-year-old railcar landmark, was hoisted from its longtime Williamsburg corner and transported two miles to the Brooklyn Navy Yard on Saturday, where it will live on as a permanent set for Steiner Studios, according to the New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The move was announced<\/a> in August 2025.<\/p>\n

The \u201950s-style diner \u2013 featured in films including \u201cMen in Black 3\u201d and \u201cThe Good Shepherd\u201d \u2014 had faced demolition after its $12.5 million sale this summer for a planned mixed-use development.<\/p>\n

Studio chairman Doug Steiner intervened at the last minute, offering to relocate and preserve the structure, which hasn\u2019t operated as a full restaurant since 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat diner was one of the few places we would go to have lunch in the early days,\u201d Steiner told the New York Post<\/a>, adding, \u201cThat was before major gentrification.\u201d<\/p>\n

Former owner Sandy Stillman called the move \u201cone of the best days\u201d of his life, saying he\u2019s grateful the iconic neon-lit cafe will remain intact for future productions.<\/p>\n
