Gene Simmons, the legendary musician who\u2019s also known by the stage name \u201cthe Demon,\u201d and the frontman\/bassist\/co-lead singer of the hard rock band KISS, recently stunned anchor Maritsa Georgiou during a TV interview by abruptly asking if she was \u201cstill modeling.\u201d<\/p>\n
Simmons, age 76, then went on to say he \u201cjust assumed\u201d she modeled. <\/p>\n
The Scripps News anchor who was then uneasy with the exchange, asked, \u201cWhat?\u201d and clarifying, \u201cI don\u2019t model, sir.\u201d Simmons then said, \u201cOh, I just assumed.\u201d<\/p>\n
The exchange became uncomfortable and led to Georgiou, who was visibly confused, quickly putting a cap on the 11-minute segment, much to the surprise of viewers and the anchor herself.<\/p>\n
The incident, which went viral because of Simmon\u2019s reputation, unfolded while Simmons was in D.C. for the Kennedy Center Honors.<\/p>\n
What\u2019s more, a comment posted on Instagram<\/a> stated: \u201cThe exchange instantly went viral \u2014 with viewers calling the moment cringe, awkward, and classic Gene Simmons behavior. Known for decades as a notorious ladies man, Simmons once claimed to have slept with 4,800 women during his KISS career.”<\/p>\n And according to a story on cleveland.com <\/a>about Simmon\u2019s Senate testimony supporting the American Music Fairness Act, this in fact wasn\u2019t the first time Simmons was called out for uncalled for remarks related to women. <\/p>\n
