An off-duty cop shot a man with a knife in an apparent road rage incident, according to New York State Police.<\/p>\n

The shooting occurred Thursday around 3:45 p.m. on Dolsontown Road near the intersection of McVeigh Road in the Town of Wawayanda, police said<\/a>. A preliminary investigation determined the drivers of a 2020 Volkswagen and a 2021 Toyota pickup truck had a conflict that spanned approximately one mile.<\/p>\n

The confrontation escalated when the driver of the Volkswagen, identified as Wallace F. Fisher, 31, of Middletown, N.Y., exited his vehicle and approached the Toyota driver. A verbal altercation at the driver\u2019s side window of the Toyota turned physical as Fisher brandished a knife, according to state troopers.<\/p>\n

Police said the driver of the Toyota, identified as off-duty Kingston Police Officer Anthony Simon, 33, discharged his firearm, striking Fisher.<\/p>\n

Fisher was initially transported to Garnet Health Medical Center but was ultimately transferred to Westchester Medical Center where he is listed in critical but stable condition. <\/p>\n

No arrests have been made, police told the Times Union<\/a>. The investigation remains ongoing. <\/p>\n

Additional details have not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact New York State Police Middletown at 845-344-5300. <\/p>\n
