Automated camera enforcement fines begin Friday on the Bx22 and Bx2 routes.<\/p>\n
\tFines can be distributed if your vehicle is improperly using bus ways, blocking bus stops or illegally double parking.<\/p>\n
\tThe fines will start at $50 and can scale up to $250 for repeat offenders and Bronx have mixed opinions on those prices.<\/p>\n
\t“That can be a little steep but if you make it too lenient then people won’t care,” says Domingo.<\/p>\n
\t“That’s too much! Yeah that’s too much,” says MaryAnn.<\/p>\n
\tThe MTA has enforced this on 54 routes across the city.<\/p>\n
\tMore than 1,400 buses now have automated camera enforcement and the MTA says those routes have increased in speed between 5% and 30%.<\/p>\n
\tOne Bronx resident said they experienced a bus having to wait for a car illegally parked and says that’s why he’s for this enforcement.<\/p>\n
\t“You should be mindful.. ya know?
