{"id":69419,"date":"2025-12-13T00:48:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T00:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/69419\/"},"modified":"2025-12-13T00:48:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T00:48:11","slug":"pete-alonso-edwin-diaz-had-no-hesitation-about-leaving-mets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/69419\/","title":{"rendered":"Pete Alonso, Edwin Diaz had no hesitation about leaving Mets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There were no press conferences at Citi Field on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But as the Mets\u2019 quiet offseason continued, there was activity elsewhere that likely got Mets fans\u2019 attention.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If they were paying close enough attention, they would have noticed <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/12\/sports\/pete-alonsos-orioles-tenure-begins-with-a-massive-hat-moment\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pete Alonso in Baltimore<\/a> and Edwin D\u00edaz in Los Angeles, both introduced Friday afternoon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pair of ex-Met stars were beaming in their new homes, Alonso fresh off his <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/10\/sports\/pete-alonso-bolts-for-155-million-orioles-contract-in-mets-crusher\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">five-year, $155 million deal<\/a> with the Orioles and D\u00edaz with a <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/12\/09\/sports\/edwin-diaz-heading-to-dodgers-in-massive-mets-blow\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three-year, $69 million contract <\/a>with the Dodgers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And neither expressed any regret about leaving Queens behind.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt wasn\u2019t easy,\u201d D\u00edaz said about ending his time with the Mets to join the two-time defending World Series champions. \u201cI spent seven years in New York. \u2026 They treated me great. I chose the Dodgers because they are a winning organization. I\u2019m looking to win and I think they have everything [needed] to win. AP<\/p>\n<p>He said Friday he \u201creally enjoyed my time\u201d with the Mets, but jumped on the opportunity to head to Camden Yards.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, there was no hesitation at all,\u201d Alonso said of joining the Orioles and new manager Craig Albernaz. \u201c[I said], \u2018Yup, that\u2019s the team \u2026\u2019 This park, this city, this organization. Everything just clicked.
