The pair of ex-Met stars were beaming in their new homes, Alonso fresh off his five-year, $155 million deal<\/a> with the Orioles and D\u00edaz with a three-year, $69 million contract <\/a>with the Dodgers.\u00a0<\/p>\n And neither expressed any regret about leaving Queens behind.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t easy,\u201d D\u00edaz said about ending his time with the Mets to join the two-time defending World Series champions. \u201cI spent seven years in New York. \u2026 They treated me great. I chose the Dodgers because they are a winning organization. I\u2019m looking to win and I think they have everything [needed] to win. Picking the Dodgers was pretty easy.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n D\u00edaz didn\u2019t give the Mets a chance to match the Dodgers\u2019 offer, which was only $3 million more than the last one he received from the Mets.\u00a0<\/p>\n Alonso, on the other hand, didn\u2019t even get an offer from the Mets once they learned the stratosphere he had reached with other teams, which landed him in Baltimore.\u00a0<\/p>\n He said Friday he \u201creally enjoyed my time\u201d with the Mets, but jumped on the opportunity to head to Camden Yards.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cFor me, there was no hesitation at all,\u201d Alonso said of joining the Orioles and new manager Craig Albernaz. \u201c[I said], \u2018Yup, that\u2019s the team \u2026\u2019 This park, this city, this organization. Everything just clicked. It was a perfect fit.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Wearing the unfamiliar No. 25, since 20 is retired by the Orioles for Hall of Famer Frank Robinson, Alonso acknowledged the element of the unknown.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe free agency process, once that starts, you really don\u2019t know what\u2019s gonna happen,\u201d said Alonso, who had a rough introduction to it last offseason, when he returned to the Mets on a two-year, $54 million with an opt out that allowed him to hit the open market again this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n This time around, Alonso was coming off a better season and was helped by the fact the market for sluggers was set by the Phillies signing Kyle Schwarber to a five-year contract worth $150 million last week.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s kind of a weird baseball limbo,\u201d Alonso said Friday of his time on the open market. \u201cBut you sit down, think about things and have some time to reflect, as [this] offseason progressed and \u2014 realistically \u2014 as we got further along, this partnership [with the Orioles], for me, was head and shoulders above everybody else.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n D\u00edaz, who said he\u2019ll bring his introduction song \u201cNarcos\u201d with him to Dodger Stadium, and Alonso joined Brandon Nimmo as key parts of the Mets\u2019 recent past to have departed this offseason, with Nimmo having been traded to Texas<\/a> in exchange for Marcus Semien.\u00a0<\/p>\n![\"Edwin](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/AP_Dodgers_Diaz_Baseball_97594-381fb-0.jpg\")
