STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 A very merry Christmas Party came to life when the South Beach Civic Association celebrated its annual holiday gathering at the Crystal Room in South Beach. <\/p>\n

The evening saw more than 200 high-spirited guests raise their glasses to toast the holiday season and enjoy the company of Santa himself.<\/p>\n

DJ Tim Turbiak and his assistant Tom, who provided musical entertainment, kept the energy high with music that spanned generations \u2014 and with a conga line that traveled around the perimeter of the dance floor.<\/p>\n

An impressive display of 47 handcrafted raffle baskets, thoughtfully designed by RoseAnn McAllister, South Beach Civic Association vice president; Susan Hansen; and Jean Tarantino, were up for grabs throughout the evening.<\/p>\n

The event also received generous support from the Old Town Civic President Karen Frey Gamoran, who donated baskets to the cause.<\/p>\n

Kudos to Dave Hansen and Cathy Murphy who handled raffles and 50\/50 sales.<\/p>\n

Among the standout prizes was a 36-inch-tall Santa Claus that was featured as the door prize.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is an honor to help the community in any way we can,\u201d said organization president Joe McAllister. \u201cDoing this every year is extremely rewarding. It is the most wonderful time of the year. Thank you to all for all your support.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continuing with the South Beach Civic Association\u2019s longstanding tradition of giving back to those in need and supporting the community in a myriad of ways, proceeds from the holiday party will be allocated to a number of organizations throughout the coming year.<\/p>\n

In addition to the charitable distributions, the SBCA actively fosters community engagement by inviting educational speakers to its monthly meetings who keep members informed regarding vital issues and developments affecting both the neighborhood and Staten Island at large.<\/p>\n

Also acknowledged for their volunteer efforts and dedication that ensured the success of the event are Pat Venezia, Judy Barnett and Dianne Romano.<\/p>\n
