The New York Giants lost their eighth-straight game on Sunday, falling to the Washington Commanders, 29-21.<\/p>\n
The Giants had a chance to tie the game late, but turned the ball over on downs with less than two minutes to play.<\/p>\n
Washington built its cushion with a dominant second quarter and survived a late push from the Giants, improving to 4\u201310 on the season. New York dropped to 2\u201312.<\/p>\n
The Commanders led 22-7 at halftime, with the biggest play being a 63-yard punt return touchdown by Jaylin Lane.<\/p>\n
The Giants responded out of the break. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart led an 82-yard drive capped by an 18-yard touchdown pass to Tyrone Tracy Jr., cutting the deficit to 22-14.<\/p>\n
Any hope of a full comeback stalled early in the fourth when Marcus Mariota connected with Terry McLaurin for a 51-yard touchdown, extending Washington\u2019s lead to 29\u201314.<\/p>\n
New York wasn\u2019t finished. Dart found Wan\u2019Dale Robinson for a 16-yard touchdown with 3:43 remaining, pulling the Giants within one score. After Abdul Carter and Tyler Nubin combined to force a fumble from Jeremy McNichols, which Carter recovered at the Giants\u2019 49-yard line with 2:38 to play, the Giants had one last chance.<\/p>\n
Facing fourth-and-8 at the Washington 38-yard line, Dart\u2019s deep pass intended for Robinson fell incomplete, ending the Giants\u2019 chance of a comeback.<\/p>\n
Dart finished 20 of 36 for 246 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Tracy Jr. led the ground game with 70 rushing yards and a score, while Theo Johnson paced the Giants with 72 receiving yards.<\/p>\n
For Washington, Mariota went 10-of-19 for 211 yards and a touchdown, Croskey-Merritt added 96 rushing yards, and McLaurin\u2019s 51-yard strike proved to be the game-winner. Safety Quan Martin led the Commanders with nine tackles, while Von Miller recorded a sack.<\/p>\n
