FDNY officials responded to a 911 call Saturday around 12 p.m. of a building on fire after residents told News 12 they smelled burning fumes coming from the building’s roof.<\/p>\n
“It looked like smoke, like it was just someone’s heat, but then I turned, and I saw the deep, orange flames,” said one resident who called 911 and let firefighters onto the roof.<\/p>\n
Video shows firefighters pouring water directly on what appears to be fiber-optic wires and transmitters on the building’s roof.<\/p>\n
No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Red Cross officials on the scene told News 12 the 6th floor units suffered minor water damage.<\/p>\n
Residents inside said they grabbed their belongings and ran as fast as they could when they saw the smoke.<\/p>\n
“We grabbed our things…our whole family, we took the stairs, and we saw the firefighters were already there,” said Mazin, who lives in the building with his family. <\/p>\n
