Once again, the junior\u2019s offensive production came in a variety of ways as he buried three treys, recorded two three-point plays and sank each of his four free throws.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XCKFI5KOUNHSBJURTKXZBAQVV4\">Matt Hanley (15 points), JJ Yates (10 points) and Jack Gomez (10 points) also contributed offensively for Farrell, which won its second straight game to improve to 2-4 overall (1-4 CHSAA).<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"G52SNJELLVAMVCE6JJPUQR2LLQ\">\u201cIt is great to get our first league win against a quality opponent,\u201d said first-year head coach Danny Fisher. \u201dThere is no easy game in this league and learning how to win these close games are important.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DEQUJ6VPSFC37FPEZEUFJUO2WU\">Senior guard Justin Williams poured in a game-high 26 points \u2014 including a 10-for-12 performance from the free-throw line \u2014 for McClancy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"P43EOXJOIJFEPBK2QNI2FTUWH4\"><a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"\" title=\"\">S.I. HS BOYS\u2019 HOOPS ROUNDUP FOR DEC. 13 (8 GAMES)<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MHW6AMIUVBC6REXIDHWC374GVU\">Leading 15-13 after one period, the Lions turned in a big second quarter that ultimately made a difference in the contest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5SSPPLD4RVE2NNN6TY73RCV5KI\">Yates scored eight points, including both of his treys, and Abreu and Hanley split 12 points as Farrell outscored the Queens school, 21-11, to take a commanding 36-24 lead at the half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"42LSNYWIYZEKDHJXFEMTIHTZHA\">Gomez, meanwhile, tallied eight points in the third, including a trey and conventional three-point play. Although the Crusaders outscored the Lions 22-18, the hosts still owned a 54-46 advantage heading into the final eight minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JYJD22ITBRAKZMWNUMOWT46A5M\">McClancy\u2019s second-half run continued in the final period, but thanks to Abreu\u2019s three-point play and 1 of 2 free throws from Braxton Moye, the Lions held off the Crusaders\u2019 late surge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"2GYG7L3LHVCDXANWXZFWD4N7XI\">\u201cI am proud of our guys for hanging tough and withstanding their run and doing enough to win this game,\u201d said Fisher, whose team buried 13 of 17 free-throw attempts for the second consecutive game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"M6EHVEP3TFAIRPIDVX62VEIKDE\">The Crusaders were 14 for 19 from the charity stripe, but missed their only two attempts of the final period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SZ6GFCYMOZDNNJF2Q4SMLYIO2M\">Farrell owned a 7-2 advantage in made three-pointers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ZUIUI3T4AVC2LCL4DSDAYEW2MQ\">*****<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"CWUYRYI52ZBWHOHBO3XOCY5XRQ\">Two Island varsity games were postponed because of Sunday\u2019s snowy weather, including separate contests involving St. Peter\u2019s and St. Joseph by-the-Sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"OAGXLYVOPVFMJOTIS622AJIYAI\">The Eagles were supposed to host Iona Prep. The game has been rescheduled for Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"UORLNPKOWFBWVCWCDOJC53OES4\">The Vikings were supposed to trek to Fordham Prep in the Bronx.
