Rob Reiner\u2019s troubled son Nick\u00a0has been charged with\u00a0fatally stabbing the famed director and his wife Michele<\/a>\u00a0at their\u00a0Los Angeles\u00a0home, authorities said Monday.<\/p>\n

Nick Reiner, 32, who spent years in and out of rehab for drug addiction, is in custody on $4 million bail, Page Six confirmed.<\/p>\n

He was detained Sunday night after police discovered the director of \u201cThe Princess Bride\u201d and his longtime spouse had been hacked to death in their mansion, the sources said.<\/p>\n

The couple\u2019s daughter Romy found Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Reiner, 68, with their throats slashed around 3:30 p.m. Sunday and told cops that she believed a family member \u201cshould be suspect,\u201d TMZ reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Romy told cops she thought that the relative was\u00a0\u201cdangerous,\u201d according to the report.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Nick Reiner previously opened up about his battle with addiction and bouts of homelessness.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,\u201d Nick\u00a0told People<\/a>\u00a0in a 2016 interview.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the latest on the death of Rob Reiner:<\/p>\n

He said he first went to rehab at age 15, and ended up doing at least 17 stints in treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.\u201d<\/p>\n

The younger Reiner said he \u201ccould\u2019ve died\u201d after bailing on a treatment center and living on the streets when he was just 19.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all luck,\u201d he said. \u201cYou roll the dice, and you hope you make it.\u201d<\/p>\n

To help cope with his troubled life and demons, Nick Reiner told the celeb glossy that he co-wrote the semi-autobiographical movie \u201cBeing Charlie.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

His dad directed the 2015 film, and \u201cThe Princess Bride\u201d star Cary Elwes appeared in it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very, very hard going through it the first time, with these painful and difficult highs and lows,\u201d Rob Reiner told the LA Times in 2016 about his son\u2019s battle with addiction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then making the movie dredged it all up again.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Nick Reiner acknowledged in his interview with People that his addiction \u201cmade me who I am now, having to deal with that stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI met crazy great people there, so out of my element. Now, I\u2019ve been home for a really long time, and I\u2019ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in LA and being around my family,\u201d he said at the time.<\/p>\n

Rob Reiner and his wife of 36 years Michele Singer Reiner, Nick\u2019s mom, were found dead in their Brentwood home Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n
