STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Dangerous conditions continued at public parks on Staten Island, two days after Sunday\u2019s storm dropped several inches of snow on the borough.<\/p>\n

Walkers, runners and others who frequent the borough\u2019s green spaces expressed frustration over slippery roadways, parking lots and walking paths on Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n

Copious amounts of snow and ice remained at Silver Lake Park on Victory Boulevard between Clove Road and Forest Avenue. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a challenge just getting in and out of the park,\u201d said a North Shore resident who has been jogging at that park for more than 20 years. \u201cI was very surprised to see such poor conditions two days after the storm.\u201d <\/p>\n

The jogger said it appeared as though pathways had not been cleared or salted. Stairways were crusted with ice, making them very slippery.<\/p>\n

The parking lot and walking paths were covered in ice and snow in Von Briesen Park at Bay Street and School Road in Fort Wadsworth.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to walk in the snow because the ice was so slippery,\u201d said a man who frequently exercises with his dog at Von Briesen. \u201cI know people who walk on a daily basis in the park. They have yet to come in for fear of falling.\u201d <\/p>\n

A senior said there was so much ice and snow on the paths and parking lots that he skipped his daily walk with his dog.<\/p>\n

Another visitor said he had no choice but to walk in the roadway that traverses the park because it was the only surface that had been adequately plowed.<\/p>\n

Spokespersons for the city Parks Department and Gateway National Recreation Area did not immediately respond to requests for comments.<\/p>\n
