Nine Inch Nails is working on new music. This marks a shift in priorities for the industrial rockers following a lengthy stint in which frontman and founder Trent Reznor focused primarily on film scores, Consequence<\/a> reports. <\/p>\n

Reznor, 60, revealed the band\u2019s return to the studio in comments made as part of Consequence\u2019s 2025 Live Act of the Year honor<\/a>. The band\u2019s recent and critically acclaimed \u201cPeel It Back<\/a>\u201d tour \u2014 which kicked off in June and runs through March \u2014 and work on the \u201cTRON: Ares\u201d soundtrack reignited the creative spark for new material.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working on new stuff and we\u2019re excited to work on it, and we are prioritizing working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category,\u201d Reznor said. <\/p>\n

\u201cSo, beyond that, I can\u2019t say much, but the difference between now and a year ago is the fuse has been lit and the desire is there.\u201d<\/p>\n

The announcement comes after Reznor previously explained that he had been focusing on film work due to his longstanding frustration with the state of the music industry. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe culture of the music world sucks,\u201d Reznor explained. \u201cWhat technology has done to disrupt the music business in terms of not only how people listen to music but the value they place on it is defeating.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that music now \u201cfeels largely relegated to something that happens in the background or while you\u2019re doing something else.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reznor has built an extensive award-winning film scoring catalog since producing the soundtrack for 1994\u2019s \u201cNatural Born Killers.\u201d <\/p>\n

Alongside bandmate and songwriting partner Atticus Ross, he has scored films including \u201cThe Social Network,\u201d \u201cThe Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,\u201d \u201cGone Girl,\u201d \u201cChallengers.\u201d <\/p>\n

The duo nabbed Oscars and Golden Globes for their work on \u201cThe Social Network\u201d in 2010 and the animated movie \u201cSoul\u201d in 2020.<\/p>\n

Nine Inch Nails\u2019 last studio album that wasn\u2019t a soundtrack was 2020\u2019s \u201cGhosts V: Together\u201d and its counterpart \u201cGhosts VI: Locusts.\u201d Further details on when new material may be released have yet to been revealed. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Nine Inch Nails is working on new music.
